Will Keane appears destined to depart Preston North End this summer after his place in manager Paul Heckingbottom’s plans diminished during the 2024‑25 campaign.

Despite being the club’s top scorer in 2023‑24 with 13 goals and 3 assists over 38 league appearances, Keane struggled to replicate that form in his second season, scoring just 4 goals from 13 starts, and more substitutes (14) than starts in the Championship last term.

With his contract running until 2026, Preston may look to cash in before risk losing him for free next summer.

Clubs Showing Interest So Far in Will Keane:

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers are in the market for a striker this summer as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of a crucial 2025/26 League One campaign. With their promotion ambitions firmly in sight, manager Steven Schumacher is eager to add more firepower to a side that fell just short last season. The exciting arrival of Amario Cozier-Duberry on loan from Brighton has already boosted the club’s creativity and pace in the final third, but a proven goalscorer remains a top priority to complement the young winger’s flair and supply.

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday could represent a loan or free-option landing spot for Will Keane, thanks to their strict financial situation under a current transfer embargo and a newly revealed wage cap of approximately £7,000 per week for new signings. Keane, earning an estimated £6,000 gross per week at Preston, would comfortably fit within those limits - and might still be eligible under EFL scrutiny despite broader restrictions on fees and payments.

Blackpool

Blackpool are another club to watch in the race for Will Keane, as they continue their push to build a promotion-contending squad under Steve Bruce. The Seasiders are still in the market for attacking reinforcements, and Keane’s experience, technical ability, and League One track record make him a smart fit. Bruce recently stated, "Blackpool still have another four or five signings to make in the current window – but may only get certain deals done once the League One season is underway," suggesting that a move for someone like Keane could materialize later in the window if circumstances align.
