📝 Derby County Bolster Squad with Experienced Duo Weimann and Batth

Derby County have officially confirmed the signings of Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth, two seasoned Championship veterans, as the Rams continue to strengthen ahead of the 2025/26 season.

A familiar face at Pride Park, Weimann returns after a previous spell with the club between 2015 and 2018. The 33-year-old Austrian international joins on a free transfer after a productive stint at Blackburn Rovers, where he scored seven goals in 30 appearances last season. Known for his tireless work rate, versatility, and knack for late goals, Weimann brings a wealth of experience from the Premier League and Championship. His ability to operate across the front line or in attacking midfield makes him a valuable asset as Derby seek attacking variety and depth.

Joining him is Danny Batth, another astute addition on a free. The commanding centre-back also arrives from Blackburn, having made 37 appearances last season and earning plaudits for his leadership and defensive composure. The former Wolves captain has been a mainstay in the EFL for over a decade, with spells at Stoke, Sunderland, and Norwich.

A reunion with manager John Eustace, who signed him at Blackburn, suggests Batth will play a key leadership role both on and off the pitch.

These signings signal Derby’s intent to not just survive but compete in what promises to be a fiercely contested Championship season. Both players offer Championship-level quality and experience, addressing key areas of the squad. With promotion ambitions clear, Weimann and Batth provide the kind of character and quality that could prove decisive in the long run.
